Cardfight Vanguard Deck Tech: Fortia and Friends!

By Serena L.

Stand Up! Vanguard!

Serena here again. And this time, I brought Friends! Today we’re exploring the new upgrades for Lyrical Monastario’s Fortia and her Friends. If you’re familiar with older formats of Vanguard, you are probably familiar with the Harmony deck. Friends are basically the updated version of Harmony. Most of our Units grant the “Friends” state when they have another unit in their column, and the ones that don’t all have powerful (but not ‘Powerful’) abilities! We will be calling the units that grant the ‘Friend’ status to themselves and their column-mates ‘Friend units’ for simplicity’s sake. The specific wording of the Friend ability is: “If you have another unit in the same column as this unit, that unit and this unit become “Friends”.

Universus Shigaraki 3 Standard Deck Tech

The new year brought the first of many changes to the Universus ccg, namely that decks in every constructed format have a minimum of 60 cards plus character. The next change doesn’t take place until the release of the Dark Tournament set, which takes the base My Hero Academia out of rotation for Standard. While there is still time to use the older cards, many players are already starting to build without those cards. That was my thought process when I converted my Order based deck to a new, standard-legal Evil deck. You can find the deck list on UVS Ultra.

Introducing the BCW 6 Drawer Card Catalog

This new product is available for pre-sale. The first wave of inventory is anticipated to ship to customers in May, 2024. Inventory from the first wave of Card Catalogs is available while quantities last.

Cardboard boxes have been the standard for storing cards for decades. They do the job, but are not an elegant storage solution. We introduced the 3200 and 1600 Collectible Card Bins for those seeking more sophisticated card storage. With that in mind, BCW introduces the 6 Drawer Card Catalog for collectors wanting a great looking storage solution that allows easy access to cards.

How to Safely Display Your Favorite Cards on a Shelf

By Sal Barry

Display of hockey cards in magnetic holders with card stands.

We as collectors spend a lot of time seeking out the trading cards that we want. But do we spend any time enjoying the cards once we have them? It seems like once I got a card that I liked, it would be tucked away in a nine-pocket page or filed into a box, seldom to be seen again.

That is understandable, since exposure to light over a long period of time can cause cards to fade. But recently, I got into the wonderful practice of putting my favorite cards on display. Here’s how you can safely display your favorite sports or gaming cards to show off to your friends and family – or just to enjoy having in your collection.

Winter Got You Down? Sort Your Cards!

By Matt Gilman of Cards Over Coffee

2024 Winter in Vermont

If you see this picture and think, ugh, this means you have the winter blues. Most of us get the winter blues. I know I do. However, I am here to tell you that there is a way to beat the winter blues and keep yourself busy in the hobby during the long months of winter. This is what I do to keep myself distracted from the white stuff and more focused on the card stuff.

Cardfight Vanguard Deck Tech – Orfist

By Serena L.

Stand Up! Vanguard!

Serena here! It’s finally time to talk about the final Nation we have yet to discuss, Brandt Gate. It’s only taken me a little over a year to get through all 6! This time we’re covering Orfist, specifically a more budget take on the D Special Series 08: Stand Up Deckset “Orfist”. It was one of three preconstructed decks designed for more competitive play. Orfist is a deck that revolves around calling Shadow Army Tokens as well as the main gimmick of Brandt Gate, revolving around set orders. There are a few forms of Orfist himself, but this time we’re specifically covering Cardinal Dominus, Orfist Regis, as that is the main vanguard from the deck. In fact, most of the stuff in this is going to come from the precon. You can find the deck list from before the rules updates on the Deck Log.

Overview of the Cardfight Vanguard Rules Changes

By Serena L.

Stand Up! Vanguard!

Serena here! I was planning on finally writing about the last Nation I mentioned last time, but Bushiroad made some massive announcements for the Overdress/Standard/D format. I thought I should cover them, since they’re pretty impactful, not just to the Japanese side of things, but to the English side of the game as well.

Using Bounce for Fun and Profit – Lorcana Deck Tech

Rise of the Floodborn adds welcome variety to the card pool, opening new deck building options and themes. While most attention is (as of this writing) placed on the card drawing engine of Hiram Flaversham and Pawpsicle, all colors have new options. The one that caught my eye is Amethyst’s bounce subtheme, and not just because Sword in the Stone is in my top 5 Disney movies. By using abilities to return characters to your hand, you can use enter play effects over and over. I have a basic frame using Amethyst only, which you can see at Dreamborn.

Cardfight Vanguard Deck Tech – Minerva

By Serena L.

Stand Up! Vanguard!

It’s Serena! And this time I brought you a blast from the past: it’s time for a deck tech on one of the Encounter decks and fan favorite unit, Minerva. Like the Chronojet Stride Deck we’ve talked about previously, Minerva and her support cards are from older versions of Vanguard that were all given Overdress facelifts for the standard format. This deck centers around the Clans of older Cardfight Vanguard formats, specifically around the Clan Genesis. Genesis is one of the Clans that formed Keter Sanctuary but many of the cards specifically look for things with just Genesis as it’s Clan, so I’ll be referring to those as ‘Genesis units’. You can play any Keter Sanctuary card in a Overdress Genesis based deck like this, but they might complicate things if they aren’t also a Genesis unit.
