Continue readingAuras in Magic don’t get the same respect as Equipment cards. They cannot swap between creatures, while Equipment can. Killing the creature an Aura is targeting will remove both, unlike with Equipment. Despite this, Auras fill a role, especially in Commander.
Siona is an Auras-matter style commander that puts an Aura into your hand when entering play. More importantly, whenever an Aura is attached to a creature you control, you create a 1/1 white human soldier token. As expected, this deck uses many enchantments to get the most out of this, as well as cards to help recycle Auras. You can find the full deck list on Moxfield.
In almost every ccg, play focuses on decks using the best and most powerful cards. This, along with inherent scarcity, drives prices on those cards up. Some players simply cannot use those cards, either due to lack of resources or a small card pool. Many card games have formats that limit players to using cards that are more easily available, such as Pauper for MtG. Chaos Gaming designed a deck using this philosophy for MHA. I recently played the list in a store provisional tournament.
Continue readingFinally, we have come to the final deck of Universes Beyond: Warhammer 40k. This deck focuses on the Necrons. Slowly awakening from their stasis, the impossibly ancient Necrons work to retake their empire.
Szarekh, the Silent King is the default commander for the deck. It mills 3 cards of your deck, putting an artifact creature of vehicle discarded into your hand. This fits with the style of the faction, as the Necrons will eventually repair anything short of complete disintegration. As the deck is mono-black, this also fits into reanimator themes found in the color. This is supported by Imotekh the Stormlord, creating token creatures when artifacts leave your graveyard.
