MTG Warhammer 40k EDH Deck: Necron Dynasties

Finally, we have come to the final deck of Universes Beyond: Warhammer 40k. This deck focuses on the Necrons. Slowly awakening from their stasis, the impossibly ancient Necrons work to retake their empire.

Szarekh, the Silent King is the default commander for the deck. It mills 3 cards of your deck, putting an artifact creature of vehicle discarded into your hand. This fits with the style of the faction, as the Necrons will eventually repair anything short of complete disintegration. As the deck is mono-black, this also fits into reanimator themes found in the color. This is supported by Imotekh the Stormlord, creating token creatures when artifacts leave your graveyard.

Anrakyr the Traveller allows you to cast an artifact from your hand or graveyard by paying life equal to the mana value of the card when attacking. Illuminor Szeras sacrifices a creature to add black mana equal to its mana value. Trazyn the Infinite gains activated abilities of any artifact in your graveyard. These abilities work well with the commander, giving more flexibility in your options.

The two C’tan are only non-artifact creatures in the deck. Of the two, Shard of the Void Dragon is the most interesting to me. It forces each opponent to sacrifice a non-land permanent when attacking, and gains 2 +1/+1 counters each time one of your artifacts enters the graveyard or exile from play. This could become a budget option for those that want a replacement for annihilator Eldrazi.

Canoptek Wraith can be sacrificed to put 2 lands with the same name into play tapped. This can make a useful ramp option for sacrifice or artifact decks. Cryptothrall is a card that will see use in any artifact creature focused decks. It gives each of your other artifact creatures in play hexproof. Psychomancer works similarly to Zulaport Cuthroat. The main differences are Psychomancer looks for non-token artifacts, and only targets one opponent.

The artifacts included in this are extremely notable, especially for a preconstructed deck. Convergence of Dominion can work well for decks that focus on Unearth. Mystic Forge is a must for any artifact focused deck. Gilded Lotus is a great addition, especially paired with anything that reduces cost of artifacts. Caged Sun is great for any mono colored deck, offering both ramp and buffs.

Armix, Filigree Thrasher could be a good inclusion, giving another way to put cards in your graveyard as well as removal. Salvage Titan may be worth including as well, as it will almost always qualify for the alternate casting cost. Arcbound Ravager would fit in with the deck as well.

This deck has plenty of options, although it may need more work than others to become consistent. That said, this may be one to get multiple copies of, as some included cards are useful in many decks. In either case, this will find a place in almost every collection.
