If you own or manage a game store but could not attend the GAMA Expo, below is a recap of the BCW and Spectrum gaming accessories spotlighted by BCW Supplies. Standard trading cards are 2 1/2” x 3 1/2”, but cards of smaller sizes exist. In fact, the original trading cards were smaller than this at about 1 5/8″ x 2 3/4″. A major issue facing anyone collecting these “mini” cards is the simple fact that most supplies are designed for cards significantly larger. Everything from boxes, sleeves, binder pages, and card holders are too large for safe use. However, BCW produces LaserWeld Card Insert Sleeves for these smaller cards. A U-shaped pattern is laser-welded into the center of thick polypropylene sleeves, which creates a pocket to center the mini card in a 2½” x 3½” form. The card is placed in the pocket, and then the sleeve can be placed in any standard Magnetic Card Holder, LaserWeld 9-Pocket Page, or other storage solution.

You can’t go wrong getting card supplies for a sports card collector. The items listed below are are the basics that almost all collectors will use and appreciate as a holiday gift.
Card sleeves are the first step to protect sports cards and something almost every collector uses. Standard size cards that are a normal thickness use “penny sleeves”. If the collector has thick cards, you’ll also want to get Thick Card Sleeves. These sleeves are easy stocking stuffers for a sports card collector.

Shadows of Brimstone by Flying Frog Productions is a fully-cooperative dungeon crawler that allows its players to build characters, travel through portals, visit various worlds, battle monsters and enemies, all while trying to save the local town (and earn as much gold and loot as they can carry). Each map tile, piece of gear, choice of enemy, or room encounter that you come across is randomly determined by the luck of the draw from its own deck of cards. Which, as one can imagine, adds up to a lot of cards. When I first started playing this game 7 years ago, I traveled with my game to my favorite local store with a few deck boxes for each set of cards. Over time, the few boxes multiplied with each expansion added and quickly required more boxes than I wanted to carry. Luckily, BCW’s 3200 Collectible Card Bin and Bin Partitions were the perfect answer to my problem! With all my cards in one box, they were easy to store and carry.

Longtime collectors remember when sports cards started using a high-gloss protective coating in the early 1990s. This coating – known as UV coating – gave the cards like Fleer Ultra and Topps Stadium Club a slick, premium feel to them. Collectors loved it!. But this eventually led to a problem called “bricking.”
Bricking is when cards get stuck together in a stack resembling a brick. And once they brick, they are hard to unstick. Read on to learn why cards stick together, what to do if they brick, and how to prevent that from happening in the first place.
