Comic Book Storage Options from BCW

Collectors need a way to store their collectibles, and comic fans are no different. There are several options for comic storage. Each of these hold current to silver age comics. While there are common elements between all of them, each works best in different circumstances.

BCW White Short Comic Boxes

The BCW Short Comic Storage Box is the prototypical comic storage option. For a time, this was the only style available for collectors. It is a simple, utilitarian option that holds up well to use. Due to the cardboard construction, they will need replaced eventually, which can be an issue for large collections. With that in mind, it is perfect for people new to the hobby, as it is sturdy and inexpensive. The Long Comic Box and Graded Comic Box have similar advantages and disadvantages.

Printed Comic Boxes

Similar to the plain short boxes, the line of Printed Art Boxes offer the same protection but with eye-catching graphics. There are several varieties covering a wide range of licenses. If you collect a specific series, a matching box can help keep your collection organized while also having aesthetic appeal. Of course, nothing stops you from using a box that you think looks good, despite what you may store inside. Otherwise, uses and features are the same as the short box above. New designs are available throughout the year, and some designs get retired, so please check our website for the current inventory.

Comic Book Foldaways on Shelves

Next, we have the Comic Book Foldaways. These are a step up from corrugated cardboard boxes. Foldaways hold fewer comics than the Short Comic Boxes, but have the advantage of fitting better on an IKEA Kallax shelf. The muted colors of the fabric allows it to blend with most color schemes. As it is made of more durable materials, the Foldaway will also last longer than cardboard. If you use IKEA shelf systems, or store your collection in an open room, these will likely work best.

Comic Books in a BCW Comic Book Bin

Finally, we have the Comic Book Bins. These are made of sturdy, acid-free plastic and snap together. There is also an integrated partition system to keep your comics upright and organized. While a larger upfront investment, these bins will last as long as you need them. These bins also tolerate regular movement better than the boxes. For serious collectors, or for retail outlets, these bins are the height of storage. Like the standard corrugated boxes, bins are available in a longer form, as well as a bin for graded slabs.

Comic Book Stor-Folios

Another consideration is our line of Stor-Folios. While most use them to transport comics to and from places like conventions and shops, they work as storage as well. They are especially useful if you collect limited or mini-series, or if bookshelves are your main storage option.

For a portable yet sturdy storage option for graded comics, we have Locking Graded Comic Cases. These cases feature an aluminum exterior with dense foam interior to keep your slabs pristine. The integrated lock adds another layer of security for your prized collection.

Each of these boxes fill the same role; storing and protecting bagged and boarded comics. When deciding which boxes to use, keep your collection size in mind, as well as where you store them. We advise collectors to store their collection in a dry, cool location. If there are children or pets in your home, the durability of the boxes will also be an important consideration. Of course, appearance may be a consideration too. These points will determine which ultimately works best for your needs.
