Cardfight Vanguard Deck Tech – Feltyrosa Fest

By Serena L.

Stand up! Vanguard!

Serena here, this time, we’re back with an old friend. With the recent release of Festival Booster 2023 we have some new support for the original five Lyrical Monasterio decks, including the one I wrote my very first article on, Feltyrosa! I’ve been playtesting and this is my most recent version of the deck.

Feltyrosa card for Cardfight Vanguard

Our ride line is actually the same as last time, with Admired Dear Sister, Feltyrosa as our starter, Beautiful Day Off, Feltyrosa as our grade 1, Talent of Enjoyment, Feltyrosa as our grade 2, and Rondo of Eventide Moon, Feltyrosa as our grade 3, who when a drive reveals a Ghost normal unit, she can call it to an open front row circle and then you can Counterblast 1 to gain +1 drive until the end of the battle. Currently this is the only copy of Eventide Moon we’re running, but I’m experimenting with more. As for why, read on.

The new Festival Booster gave each of the five Lyrical girls an Easter-themed ‘DressUp’ form with new skills, and here we have 4 copies of the new Rondo of Plenilune, Feltyrosa, our new grade 3. It has ‘DressUp – Rondo of Eventide Moon, Feltyrosa’, which means during the fight she’s also treated as that card. This means she also triggers our Persona Rides. She has 2 other Vanguard effects. The first being that while you have a grade 3 Feltyrosa in soul, your front row Ghosts get 10k power. The second is a play on Eventide’s skill. This version can CB1 and she gets the Auto skill ‘When your drive check reveals a Ghost normal unit or a grade 3 with “Feltyrosa” in it’s card name, you can call that card to an open RC and this unit gets drive +1 until the end of that battle.’ twice.

That last word is important, since it means when we reveal any non-trigger in our deck, we can call 2 of them and our vanguard gets a drive for each. In essence, she still lets us potentially call 2 more units and gain 2 more drive, but we’re now free to call anywhere and our Persona copies aren’t as dead as before and for half the CB cost. The other grade 3 we run is still our old friend, Capriccio of Circulating Stars, Ingrid at 4 copies. Ingrid is our Counter Charger and she returns herself to the bottom of the deck after attacking.

Now I’ve also seen a lot of people talking about another of the new cards for grade 3 but I have to advise against her. Her name is Moon-Nesting Fantasia, Adelheid. She’s another new Ghost, and generic for all Lyrical decks in theory, but she actively conflicts with one of Feltyrosa’s other new cards, who is much better overall. We’ll talk more about that later.

Rosewitha card for Cardfight Vanguard

Our grade 2 lineup has also changed. We’re running two old friends and a new friend. Returning are 2 copies of Dedicated Serenade, Eleonore, a powerful attacker who can topdeck herself after attacking, and 4 Canon of Overlaid-spinning, Dietlinde, who can SB1 to bring back other Ghosts and bottom decks herself after attacking. The new addition is another powerful attacker in Traumerei of Grazing Hands, Roswitha. Roswitha says when she’s placed on RC from a zone other than your hand she stands the rearguard unit in the same column as her (if she’s called in the back row, she stands the front!) and she gets 5k power. She also can have her gain another 5k when she is attacking, but if you do, she also retreats to the bottom of the deck like Dietlinde and Ingrid after the battle ends.

Ortrud card for Cardfight Vanguard

Our grade 1s are more lean, as we’re going mainly for aggression with this list. We have 2 Join Grasp, Ernesta, who restands when a Ghost is called during battle. I also use 2 Little Lady Helmina, that gives another rear-guard +5k she’s placed on RC while you have another Ghost. Helmina is the main cut I’m looking at for more Eventide Moon Feltyrosa copies, so keep that in mind! Next, there are 4 copies of our sentinel, Nocturne of Flickering Lambency, Judith, who happens to be a Ghost normal unit that we can call if we happen to need that extra bit of power, and 4 copies of the last new card in this list, Night Sky Searing Divertimento, Ortrud, who says if you have a Feltyrosa vanguard, you can CB1 to put the unit she boosted to Soul and draw a card.

Ortrud is the only way we have to draw outside of triggers, so this is very useful. While our other ghosts can all clear themselves from circles, the Personas we call off Felty can’t. Ortrud helps fix that (and set up for that sweet 10k to front Ghosts), or generates more Soul for Eleonore to use her effect. This is also the card that conflicts with Adelheid I mentioned above, since both have an after battle skill to put the other in Soul. You can only get 1 of the effects of them, and Ortrud’s draw is more important.

Lastly, our trigger lineup has also changed some. We’re using 7 Draw, 4 Critical, 4 heals and the Lyrical Overtrigger (as always, my favorite one, Demonic Fervor, Garviera). Our heals are Languid Relaxation, Marguerite, crits are Glutton, Nora and draws are 4 Transparent Snowy Night, Beretoi for the extra shield and 3 Knowledge as Power, Saskia. Nora, Marguerite and Saskia are all also Ghosts so you can recycle them off the grade 1 and 2 Feltys. I’ve also seen people talking about using either of the two new generic OTs that also came out in this set, Spiritual King of Aquatics, Idosfaro and Spiritual King of Ignition, Valnout for Felty, but I prefer Lyrical for extra numbers.

Other than that, the cards I would also suggest looking at are pretty much the same ones as last time, being Hair-braiding Aspiration, Heilwig, Head Groupie,
Marleen
and Stronger Yearning in the Heart, Florenzia, plus Eternally Indistinguishable Aubade, Irene and Wraith Embrade, Betina for alternatives you want to look at.

I think that’s all for me for now! I hope you enjoyed this look into my favorite Vanguard deck.
We will be back soon with another article. Final Turn!
