Direful Dolls Cardfight Vanguard Deck Tech

Stand Up! Vanguard!

Serena back again! This time we’re back with Vanguard talking with the modern version of one of my favorite decks: Direful Dolls! This new archetype is a Standard format take on the old Nightmare Dolls with a whole new rideline that gets really good on those grindy games. And like Nightmare Dolls, Direful Dolls revolved around calling Workeroid units from soul to attack our opponents, with the added twist of calling them from bind for defense!

Direful Doll, Tonia from Cardfight Vanguard

Starting us off in our ride deck is Direful Doll, Tonia, the standard starter for the deck, followed by Direful Doll, Serenella. Serenella said when she’s rode upon by Direful Doll, Griselda that we can look at the top 7 of our deck, pick up to two Direful Dolls from them and put them into soul, then shuffle. Then on rearguard circle, when she attacks or boosts while we have a grade 3 or higher Direful Doll vanguard, you can have her gain 5k power, then we bind her at the end of battle. Griselda, when rode over by a grade 3 Direful Doll, will call herself out to rear. Then, her other auto kicks in, when she’s placed on rear, we can put a Direful Doll from hand to soul to draw a card and give both our vanguard and Griselda 5k power for the turn. Lastly our main vanguard is Direful Doll Master, Android, who is the only non-Workeroid Direful Doll. He says once per turn we can CounterBlast 1 to choose up to the same number of Workeroid Direful Dolls from our soul as the grade of our opponent’s vanguard and call them and if we called 3 or more we gain a drive for the turn. He also has a defensive ability, when he’s attacked we can choose up to 1 Workeroid Direful Doll from our bind and guard with it and it gains 5k shield for the battle! There’s also no once per turn on this, it’s just when he’s attacked!

Now on to our grade 1s, we have 3 more copies of Serenella, the same one from the ride line, meaning we’re on a full playset. We also run 4 copies of Direful Doll, Pelagia. Pelagia binds herself after boosting to put 2 of our Dolls from drop into soul, and when she’s put on guardian circle, she gains 5k shield when our vanguard is a Doll. Rounding out our grade 1s are the other non-Workeroids (and non-Dolls), not counting triggers. The first is our Perfect Guards of choice, 3 copies of Steam Maiden, Arlim and 1 Elementaria Sanctitude. Finally we have 4 copies of another ride line card, but not from this deck: Almajestar, Schwart=Sparda. Sparda’s vanguard effect doesn’t matter, but once per turn when she’s on rear, we can bind a trigger from soul to give her 10k power for the turn. But that’s a surprise tool to help us later.

Direful Doll, Shelby from Cardfight Vanguard

For our grade 2s, once again we have Direful Doll, Griselda from the ride line at 3 copies. Next, Direful Doll, Shelby is one of the cards from DivineZ set 2 for the deck. She says when she attacks a grade 3 or greater unit we can put a Direful Doll from drop to soul and Shelby gains 5k power for the battle for each grade of the card we put into soul for the cost, then at the end of the battle we bind her. The last grade 2 is Direful Doll, Provvidenza, who says when she attacks and both players are on grade 3 she gets 10k power for free. Then her other skill says at the end of the battle she attacked we can Energy Blast 3 and bind her to call a Direful Doll Workeroid from our soul.

Direful Doll Master, Android from Cardfight Vanguard

Onto grade 3s, we have a simple lineup of 3 more Direful Doll Master, Android and a Gratias Gradale for Persona Rides, then 4 copies of Direful Doll, Liberata. On placement to guardian or rear guard circle, she puts a Direful Doll from our drop into soul. She also says when she attacks we can have her gain 10k for that battle, and if we do, to bind her, then we can CB1 to draw a card!

Now for our triggers, the only effect trigger is the front trigger, Diabolos Girls, Natalia. We also have the Dark States OT, Hades Dragon Deity of Resentment, Gallmageheld, and then we have the standard 8 crit 4 heal lineup, but we are pretty specific with the ones we use. 4 of the crits can be whatever ones you so desire. I’m using 4 Connected Rampage, Clenn for this spot. Remember the surprise tool I mentioned with Sparda? This is where she comes in. We have Direful Doll crits in Direful Doll, Bethany and Direful Doll heals in Direful Doll, Alexandra, both of which work for Android’s defensive skill to guard with them from bind, meaning they become 20k shields!

Direful Doll, Providenza from Cardfight Vanguard

Some other cards I’d look at would start with another Direful Doll heal, which will be useful against things like Bruce, Luard and Shiranui, is Direful Doll, Charmaine, one of the effect heals. She’s a 10k shield, but if our opponent’s grade is higher than ours, she’s a 20k! And yes, this also stacks with Android’s effect! Other than that, there’s a few Dark States staples you can look at in Steam Gunner, Tizkar, Purple Jeweled Beast, Amethys and Black Sky Thunder Quaking Queen, Leimina who all bring nice stuff to the table, but I elected to not play for a more budget friendly list.

You can check out the deck log on the official deck log site.

That’s all for me!
I hope you enjoyed this look into Direful Doll!

Serena, signing out!
