Cardfight Vanguard Deck Tech – Kyouka

Stand Up! Vanguard!

It’s Serena, back with another Cardfight Vanguard deck tech! Today, we’re talking about our favorite cardboard influencer, Kyouka. Kyouka is a deck that revolves are having different grade units and Magazine orders!

Kyouka card for Cardfight Vanguard

Our Ride Deck is going to have the grade 0 #First_Step, Kyouka, who is a standard starter. Our grade 1 is #Ready_To_Go, Kyouka, who when she’s rode over by a grade 2 Kyouka chooses a grade from 1 to 3 then lets us peek at the top 5 of the deck to take one of that grade or a Magazine card and add it to hand, then shuffle. Likewise, when our grade 2 #Hot_Stuff, Kyouka is ridden by a grade 3 Kyouka she lets us either take a Magazine from the drop and add it to hand. If we don’t have one in drop we can instead CounterBlast 1 to search our deck for one. Finally, we have our main vanguard, #Make_A_Trend!!, Kyouka, who has two effects. First, during the turn, if you play a Magazine order this turn, our whole front row gets 5k power! Also, once per turn we can SoulBlast 1 to choose a grade from 1 to 3 and declare it, then check the top five of the deck and either call something of the declared grade to a rearguard circle or adds a Magazine card to our hand before shuffling everything back.

Lyrical ShootingStarS card for Cardfight Vanguard

Speaking of our Magazines, the only one currently available is a grade 1 Normal Order/Magazine called Lyrical ShootingStarS. You can play it for free if you have a Kyouka vanguard, then you perform all of the following: if you have at least 2 grade 1 units, draw draw two cards and discard 1 from your hand, 2 or more grade 2 units gives one of your units 10k power for the turn, and 2 or more grade 3 units lets you Countercharge 1. This is a ton of value if timed right, giving you power and more resources in the form of hand, CB and maybe even soul if you play your cards right!

The deck runs 4 Nocturne of Flickering Lambency, Judith as our Sentinel, since we can potentially grab her off grade 1 Kyouka’s skill. Next, 3 copies of Best Choice, Laudomia, who can put herself into soul if we have a grade 3 Kyouka vanguard, and then puts a grade 2 or greater unit with a different name from our vanguard to the top of the deck. We also use 3 copies of Saturate Fortune, Lorena, who gets 2k power and 5k shield if there’s a Magazine in our drop. Finally, we round out with 1 Can’t Stand the Heat, York. When York is placed on rear from hand you can SB1 to look at the top 5 and put a Lyrical ShootingStarS from there to hand!

Arche card for Cardfight Vanguard

For grade 2 we use 2 copies of Large Wheel the Colors the Night, Palmira. When discarded during our turn, she can put herself to soul! This works both during the Ride Phase and we can discard her for Lyrical ShootingStarS too! I use 4 Well-Informed, Fedelm, who can CB1 to gain 10k until end of turn if we played a Magazine order that turn. Finishing up, we have the bread and butter of the deck, 4 Blue Frontier, Arche, who is our best rearguard by a country mile! Arche gets a free 5k power if we played a magazine that turn, plus at the end of the battle our grade 3 or greater vanguard attacked, if we played a Magazine that turn, we can CB1 and SB1 to restand her, potentially giving us 5 attacks!

Grade 3s in this deck are pretty simple. We have 3 more copies of the Kyouka for Persona Rides, and 2 copies of Early Adoptor, Loviisa, who can simply retire herself to get a Lyrical ShootingStarS from drop to hand.

We finish up with a rather unique set of triggers, with 6 critical, 3 Front, 2 Draw, 4 Heals and the Overtrigger. I’m using 4 of the effect crit, Precious Tune, Edwige and 2 Fluffy Lady, Godelieve, a normal trigger unit. You don’t have to use the effect crits here, but they can provide extra soul for Kyouka and Arche! I have 3 Snowskip Palvi, which can get us extra shield and extra numbers for Arche’s restand attacks, 2 Transparent Snowy Night, Beretoi, the effect draw to help dig for Magazines or the appropriate grade units for ShootingStarS, and again, the extra shield, 4 Diva of Ataraxia, Georgina as our heals, and we really have 2 solid options for our Overtrigger, either running the Lyrical OT Demonic Fever, Garviera, or ‘the blue OT’, Spiritual King of Aquatics, Idosfaro. There are arguments for both, as Lyrical can provide more consistent numbers, particularly if we check it early. Idosfaro can give us an extra crit and recycle a card, but isn’t as consistent through the game, particularly if checked early.

Set of important cards in this Cardfight Vanguard deck

Now, I said earlier that there’s only 1 Magazine available, but Kyouka does have some really exciting support coming down the pipeline, both with a new Magazine promo (which is coming out in Monthly Bushiroad, so it’s a Magazine in a magazine) and some new cards from the upcoming fourth Lyrical set, including one that can change her grade!

Here’s the current deck list!

That’s all for now. We’ll #See_You_Soon!
Serena, signing out!
