How to Safely Ship Comic Books

Comics in book mailer

Comics, like every other collectible, require care when shipping. While you can toss them in a box with no other consideration, they will most likely arrive damaged if not destroyed. Fortunately, BCW offers several options to ship comics safely, each suited for a different need.

Comics in 10 Comic Book Mailer

The first option is the Mailer for 10 Comic Books. This box is easy to use, as it folds like a standard storage box. It holds 15 loose comics, or 10 with bags and boards. The box is designed for modern comics, so it is not be the best option for your Silver Age needs.

Graded comics in wrap mailer

Next, we have the Wrap Mailer for Comic Books. This is an extremely versatile option, able to hold up to 15 comics in bags and boards, 8 standard magazines, or even 3 graded slabs. Almost any book smaller than 8 1/2″ x 11″ x 2″ will fit in this mailer. It requires special folding, as demonstrated in this video on YouTube.

Comics in 25 comic mailer

Finally, we have the Mailer for 25 Comics. This is our largest option, able to hold 40 loose comics or 25 in bags and boards. Unlike the first mailer, this is designed to hold Silver Age comics as well as modern. It also holds most standard graphic novels and trade paperbacks. This is perfect when you have a large number of comics to ship, but does not work nearly as well for lower amounts.

If you keep the walls of the box tight against your comics to prevent them from shifting and moving. Extra pieces of cardboard above and beneath the stack of comics will add another layer of protection. Tape the seams and corners tightly, making sure there are no gaps in the box. You can write “Fragile” or “Do Not Bend” on both sides of the package to add a reminder to handle these with care. Following these steps, your comics will arrive safely.
