Cardfight Vanguard – Meer V Premium Deck Tech

By Serena L.

Stand Up, Vanguard!

It’s Serena again! This time, I thought we’d change things up a little, so instead of a deck tech for Cardfight Vanguard’s Standard (also called Overdress or D format), I would bring you one for V Premium! V or V Premium is the second of the three formats of Cardfight Vanguard and runs differently from Overdress. Most notably, there is no Ride deck, but there are a few other mechanics to replace it. Let’s cover those before we really dig in.

Meer Hero Card

Most grade 3s in V have what’s called ‘Imaginary Gift’ instead of Persona Ride and the type of gift you get depends on the Clan you’re playing. In this case, we’re playing Bermuda Triangle, which is a Force type deck. When you ride into a grade 3 with Imaginary Gift, you acquire the Imaginary Gift. Since we run a Force deck the Gifts available come in 2 flavors. Each type goes either on one of our rearguard circles or our vanguard circle. However, once we pick one of the 2 types the choice is permanent. Force I gives the circle it’s on a 10k boost on your turn and Force II gives the unit on it an original crit of 2. Another mechanic not used in Overdress is G-Assist. This means if you can’t ride, look at the top 5 cards of the deck. Then, add a card 1 grade higher than our Vanguard to our hand and remove 2 cards in our hand from the game.

We’re starting from the top grades now, with 4 Sweetest Sister, Meer, who has 3 abilities. First at the start of your main phase, she gives you a Meer’s Present marker into your hand, which ties into her second ability. At the start of your battle phase you can use any number of them from hand and all your rear guards get 5k more power for each. On top of that, if you reveal 2 or more, you can Counterblast 1 to heal a card! Her other ability also helps you put on the pressure, as once per turn you can Counterblast 1 and Soulblast 1 to look at the top two cards of your deck, then call one and put the other on the bottom of the deck. Rose Princess, Phalaina is our other grade 3, who is more of a defensive option. If anyone Intercepted this turn, she gets 10k power and shield! Also when you play her, you can CB1 and discard a card to bring two Lyrical Veil cards from your drop to your hand!

Meer Deck In Play

Speaking of Lyrical Veil, it’s a grade 2 Normal Order, which you play by SB2 and discarding another Veil to bring two grade 2 or lower units from your drop to rear, and then you can choose any number of player’s rearguards to gain Intercept and can Intercept from back row until the end of your opponent’s next turn. Filling Reverie, Petra is the main grade 2 we want to ride into. When played on vanguard you can SB2 to search up a Meer from your deck, setting up your ride for the next turn! On top of that, when Petra is on rear and she attacks, if a card was put from your damage to drop, she blocks your opponent’s Sentinels! This runs 4 copies for obvious reasons. Next, Multiple Shine, Mirada is really useful, since when placed on Vanguard you can CB1 to look at the top 7 cards from your deck, pick a grade 2 and ride it as stand! While the CB is painful lose, we do generate another Soul, and hopefully we hit Petra on that to get to Meer from here too. Our last grade 2 is 3 copies of Choco Love Heart, Liselotte. While in hand you may call her as a grade 1, but once per turn when we play her on rearguard or vanguard, she lets us peek at our top card and either call it to rear or put it in soul!

Our grade 1s are going to start with 3 Mermaid Idol, Sedna, who has a nice power boost effect on your turn. More importantly when placed on vanguard or rear you at the top 5 of our deck to grab a grade 3 into hand, then shuffles and if you grabbed a card we discard a card. 4 copies of Mermaid Idol, Elly form one of our big defensive engines. On Guardian Circle you can put a copy of her from your drop to the bottom of your deck to gain an extra 10k shield (for a total of 20k) and if you do need to call her, if her attack or the one she boosts hits, you can search your deck for another copy of her and if the first copy is a rearguard, you retire her. Next, we run 3 copies of Peppy Smile, Helga. She gains 5k power if you revealed a [Meer’s Present] from hand this turn, and when she or the attack she boosted hits a vanguard you can CB1 to draw a card. Our last grade 1 is 3 copies of Scarlet Vivid, Quale, a promo that Soulcharges 1 on place and if she’s rode on you can call her to rearguard!

Finally, we have our trigger units! We have 4 of each of Lover Hope, Rina and Direct Sign, Pursh as critical triggers, 4 Glittery Baby Lene as draw triggers and Sentinels, and 4 Omnia Vincit Amor, Benedetta, a grade 3 heal trigger that’s called a Heal Guardian. She has a shield value and some extra effects. If she’s called to Guardian Circle and you haven’t ridden a grade 3 yet, she either gives an opponent’s unit -2 crit or gives your Vanguard a 10k boost for the whole turn.

Rounding things out, Pure Gifter, Aliche as my preferred starter, mainly because I have the RRR one from when I played Prism. The one on the deck list is representing that, but doesn’t have her proper errata, which all V starters got. All of them now state “[AUTO]:When rode upon, draw a card. Then, if your opponent’s vanguard is grade 1 or greater, put a Quick Shield ticket into your hand.” Quick Shields are just an extra card added to your hand and you can call them to Guardian Circle for an extra 5k shield, but they aren’t part of your deck.

Full Meer Deck

Anyway, that’s my V Premium Meer deck! I think she has a lot of good offensive and defensive options and can really grind game. You can also find the full list on the Decklog. I hope you enjoyed this and the look into V Premium as a format. I do have at least 1 other V deck list planned for the future, so stay tuned for that!

May your draws be what you need!
Serena, signing out for now!
