Flesh and Blood Kano Deck Tech

With the Flesh and Blood US Nationals right around the corner and many players only running 1 or 2 Arcane Barrier in their list, Nationals might be the best event to catch players off guard with Kano. I sat with my testing partner Will and talked about his current take on classic constructed Kano and why this may be the best time to jam it at Nationals. This deck takes a lot of practice to learn all the lines and ways to push damage. Here’s a deck tech with a few helpful tips for how to succeed if you’re thinking about catching everyone off guard with Kano at your next event, even if that event is Nationals.

With many decks only running 1-2 Arcane Barrier this might be a great time to pick up Kano and learn the lines. This list is a great starting point to learn the list as well as a SB plan for when you think your opponent will bring in more than Arcane Barrier 2. The 15 cards listed in the SB are to help push through the AB and allow you to grind more. The two biggest tips I can give are the following:

  1. This is a deck that needs reps to learn. The lines to push damage are vast, and unlike most combo decks, will allow you to push big damage from many different starting points. Knowing the cards inside and out will help.
  2. When playing the deck you can block out attacks and chip damage in. It’s not always about trying to kill your opponent with a big turn as much as it is controlling their life totals and grind them down to a point when you can set up a big turn kill. Also if your opponent is running a lot of Arcane Barrier, just know forcing them to pitch cards to pay for AB is lowering the amount of damage they can clap back. If your opponent has less than 20 life they could be in range for a big turn kill and if they are playing out their full hand while attacking on their turn you can sneak in damage since they won’t have many resources to use to pay for AB.
