Hey guys!
It\u2019s Serena, taking the stage again to bring you all another Magic the Gathering Commander deck tech!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Selection<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

This time, we\u2019re discussing Hatsune Miku! More specifically, we\u2019re talking about Miku, the Renowned<\/em>, a reskinned version of Feather, the Redeemed<\/em>, a classic commander. This is a 3\/4 flying angel for a red and two white. Also, whenever you cast an instant or sorcery that targets a creature you control, you exile it, then return it to your hand at the end phase. Therefore, we\u2019re a fairly limited spellslinger deck, but that doesn\u2019t mean we have bad options! The deck revolves around our commander and low-cost spells to hit our opponents hard and fast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

\"Cards<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

First, I\u2019ll start with our draw package. We have cards like Courageous Resolve<\/em>, Defiant Strike<\/em>, Fists of Flame<\/em>, and Shelter<\/em>. All of these are instants that target a creature and let us draw a card. The weakest of these is Bandag<\/em>e, as its “main” effect is to prevent a single damage to a creature. However, it is a 1 mana cantrip we can reuse. The others are either buffs that help us close out games or protect our cards. Shelter gives a creature protection from the color of our choice, and Courageous Resolve gives protection from each of our opponents. If we\u2019re at 5 or less life, it\u2019s Fateful Hour effect also applies, meaning we can\u2019t lose the game and our opponents can\u2019t win it for the turn. Since it returns to your hand at the end of every turn, if you’re low on life, you can reuse it again and again!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, some of our top buff spells are things like Monstrous Rage<\/em>, Siege Smash<\/em>, Legion Leadership<\/em>, Temur Battle Rage<\/em>, and Psychotic Fury<\/em>, all of which have various types of offensive buffs. Monstrous Rage gives a permanent buff with the Monster Role token on the target, while Psychotic Fury gives Double Strike and draws a card. Legion Leadership doubles the target’s power and gives First Strike, but it can also be used as a tapped dual land in a pinch. Siege Smash is a nice Split Second instant that we can reuse give +3\/+2 and Trample or remove a troublesome artifact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Cards<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Next up, we have a few wincons for the deck. Urabrask<\/em>, Storm-Kiln Artist<\/em>, and Birgi, God of Storytelling<\/em> either add mana whenever we cast our recyclable spells or creates Treasure tokens. Sentinel Tower<\/em> and Aetherflux Reservoir<\/em> can both add a lot of extra damage. Miku\u2019s Spark<\/em>, a reprint of Chandra\u2019s Ignition<\/em>, can be used to wipe the board every turn and take chunks out of our opponent\u2019s life. And while not a means to win by itself, Showstopping Surprise<\/em> is a thematic and reusable (potential) board wipe at instant speed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"An<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Miku\/Feather decks have a lot more going on under the hood than you might think. My Moxfield list<\/a> has tags enabled so you can see what every card in the list is there for. As an encore, a few cards I didn\u2019t mention include Sword of Once and Future<\/em> to return spells from the graveyard, and Sunforger<\/em> to help find a specific spell. Monastery Mentor<\/em> creates a self-buffing army of monks if left unchecked, and Electrostatic Infantry<\/em> can turn into a nasty threat by itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
