In fact, the Jasco booth at Gen Con was constantly full with people taking demos of the game. For better or worse, the meta also moves quickly, with a character considered useless jumping to high usage in a matter of weeks.

With this in mind, I offer this little deck tech. It is not tournament viable, at least not now, but should work well for casual or local play using a very high-risk/high-reward style. The deck is capable of throwing out several high-damage, nearly unblockable attacks each turn, but only if all the pieces are in place. Without further ado, the list.

Four MHA decks in a BCW Prime X4 Gaming Box

Character:
Tenya Iida II – Order

Attacks:
Recipro Burst x1
Jet Stream Crash x3
Recipro Extend x4
Flying Thruster Kick x4
High Engine Kick x4
Engine Rush x2
Falling Thruster Kick x3
Recipro Acceleration Kick x2

Foundations:
Heroic Lineage x4
Natural Leader x4
Resistance x4
Class 1-A President x4
Small and Limber x4
Harden x4
What’s Their Plan? x2
Villains Defeated x2

While generally considered one of the worst characters, I find Iida II’s abilities to be interesting. Both have obvious offensive use, but can also be used defensively as well. The main point of the deck is to make attacks as fast as possible to allow use of the character’s enhance, with a few defensive tricks added in.

Recipro Extend and Jet Stream Crash are your opening attacks. Both can increase speed and damage of the next attack played, although Jet Stream Crash’s abilities are conditional. Recipro Extend also draws a card for free, which is a nice bonus. Engine Rush can also make a good opening attack, as the first enhance almost forces your opponent to block it. Flying Thruster Kick and Falling Thruster Kick are both solid attacks that have built-in damage boosts that are easy to activate. Both also have EX, which gives another easy way to increase speed. High Engine Kick is another all around attack that mirrors Iida II’s response ability. Recipro Acceleration Kick and Recipro Burst are the kill cards of the deck, with Recipro Acceleration Kick able to reach extremely high speeds, and Recipro Burst able to reach high damage.

Heroic Lineage is the most important card of the deck. The main use is buffing your own damage, but has some defensive utility. Natural Leader is a consistent source of speed bonuses, again with some defensive use. Similarly, Small and Limber gives small damage and speed bonuses, but also offers minor protection against foundation destruction. Class 1-A President is a one-time use of Iida’s enhance. Harden carries a decent damage bonus, but can be handy if used as a block, especially against characters able to deal massive damage like Mei Hatsume or All Might. Resistance is the most important . What’s Their Plan? and Villains Defeated are utility cards that offer minor but helpful effects.

Ideally, the deck will play defensively the staple foundations are in play and at least one Recipro Extend and Recipro Acceleration Kick are in hand. At that point, you go all in. You will usually do massive, potentially game-winning damage, or leave yourself open to a counter attack. This risk is why this will never be a top deck, but the style is fun and unpredictable, making it perfect for your local game shop.

My Hero Academia has revitalized the Universus system, thanks to the crossover appeal from fans of the anime.
