Cardfight Deck Tech – Lianorn Overdress

Standup, Vangaurd!
Hey, guys! It’s Serena, back with another Cardfight Vanguard Overdress deck tech! This time we’re talking about one of the decks from the anime itself, the band-leader, Lianorn!
Lianorn is one of the decks tied to Stoicheia and has a great jumping off point with the trial deck. It revolves around all of your back-row rearguards boosting Lianorn for massive swings!

Cardfight Vanguard cards

Starting off with our ride line, we have Announcing Wind of Spring, Corphie, who is a standard starter vanguard. We lead into our first grade 1, Budding of Pleasant Sounds, Gracia. When she’s rode on by Brilliant Tune Rektina, she will call herself to rear-guard circle. Also, when she boosts a vanguard, she gets an extra 5k for the battle. Now, on to Rektina, the only grade 2 in this build. When she’s ridden over by a Lianorn named card, you can Soulblast 1 to bring a grade 1 or less card from your drop to rear-guard, and when Rektina herself is on rear, she gets boost if you have 3 or more rear-guards! Lastly in our Ride Deck, we have the original form of Lianorn, Bandmaster of Blossoming Bonds, Lianorn! Using this version of her gives us more chances to Persona Ride. If she’s rode on by Grand March of Full Bloom, Lianorn she’s considered to have that card name. She makes a solid attacker, gaining 5k power when boosted! When she attacks, you Soulblast 1 and discard a card and booster her with all your standing backrow rears with Boost. If you boost her with 3 or more, she gets an extra drive, and you restand two of the units who boosted her.

Now, on to the main deck. We start with our triggers, being 8 critical, 3 draw, using the effect triggers for each of those Aspiring Maiden, Alana for the crit, who can be used as a booster and recover soul, and Serene Maiden, Lena for the extra guard strength, which this deck really loves having. Then we round out the 16 with our 4 heals (in my case, Soul Repose Pixy, Petronella) and the clan specific Overtrigger, Source Dragon Deity of Blessings, Blessfavor. Essentially, its extra effect is all the other trigger effects, allowing you to draw a card, gain a crit on one unit, gives all your front row rears 10k power, and, if you have the same number of more damage or more than your opponent, you heal one! Remember, in this deck, on the attack, you’re usually wanting to give your boosters the power from triggers, since they can share that power with the units they boost!

Our grade 1 line-up is all about boosting our band-leader, Lianorn. Except, of course, our Sentinel, which in this case is 4 copies of Custodial Dragon. On to our booster line up! First up, and most importantly, it’s 4 copies of Performing Pedal, Diantha! This lovely flower helps recur your rear-guards. When placed from hand you can CB1 to bring back a grade 3 or lower card from drop to rear if your vanguard is grade 3 or higher! Also, on your turn, if you have 2 or more grade 1 or less rears, she gets 5k power. This means she’s usually a 13k boost! While discarding things for Lianorn’s effect, you might think you would have trouble having enough boosts. That’s where Stepping Calyx, Salvia comes in! When she’s placed on rear, she brings a friend! A Plant token, who also happens to have Boost! We have 3 copies of Salvia in this list for all our Plant Token needs! And speaking of refilling things to use Lianorns skill, we have 3 copies of Lively Rhythm, Biara. When the attack she boosted hits a vanguard, she lets you put a grade 2 or less card from your hand to soul. Then, you draw a card. Lastly for our grade 1s, we use 1 copy of Spiritual Body Condensation. It’s an order we play with SB1 to bring back a card with a grade up to the Vangard grade to rear, then give it 5k power.

With the booster lineup done, we have our rear-guard attackers! These are grade 3s, so they have good power on their own, but can reuse our boosters on them! Starting off, we have 1 more copy of our starting grade 3, Bandmaster of Blossoming Bonds, Lianorn, for persona ride and 5k she gets on rear! Now we have our REAL main vanguard, 4 Grand March of Full Bloom, Lianorn. This swaps out the rearguard ability to CB1 to draw a card then discard or call a card from hand! Otherwise, she has the same skill as Bandmaster! Following her is 2 Benevolent Maiden, Araserith. When placed from hand to rear you can Soulblast 1 and Counterblast 1 to mill 3 and choose a card from drop. Then, either call it if grade 2 or less, or add it to hand if it has the same name as our Vanguard! Note here that she lets you take from your whole drop, not the cards you just milled! Moving on from the Bioroids, we have more dragons! Specifically, 4 of each Clapping Dragon and Resonance Dragon. Clapping can potentially let you CB1 to draw a card. Plus, it gets a 10k powerup until end of turn if your opponent’s vanguard is grade 3 or higher. Resonance, meanwhile gets an extra 5k if you boosted 3 or more times in one turn. Also, after it attacks vanguard, if you have a vanguard named Lianorn and your units boosted at least 5 times this turn, you can CB1 and put Resonance Dragon to soul to restand a rear-guard!

Spread of Cardfight Vanguard cards and tokens

Part of this deck comes from the trial deck, but the rest are mostly from sets 6 and 7. You have other cards that can work too! One option is Elementaria Sanctitude, a Blitz Order Sentinel that has no cost if your opponent’s vanguard has Triple Drive. Adhesive Thread Mutant, Actiasticky from set 5 can also be a nice include, since at the cost of a
Counterblast and retiring 2 other rears can draw you a card. I think this is better if you’re playing a build with more things like Salvia to generate tokens to retire. Pink Moth Girl, Maple from set 8 also works here. When you place a grade 3 or greater vanguard during the Ride Phase and trigger Persona Ride, if it isn’t in play, you can call her from the drop. With this or similar builds, where you have more than the usual 3 Persona Rides, she can be pretty handy! Anyway, here’s the link to the deck on Bushiroad’s deck log!
